How to make Android apps

In a previous blog post we discussed the five reasons people choose to make Android apps:

  1. To make money
  2. To promote your brand/product
  3. To give back/provide a free service
  4. To have fun/do it as a hobby
  5. All of the above

Whatever your reasons for making an app, there are essentially three ways you can go about doing so.

1. Learn to program and build it yourself

This is probably only realistic if you already have some programming experience, but if you do it can be an attractive option. Regardless of your aptitude, it will take time to learn the intricacies of Android architecture and become a competent Android developer, but this approach gives you the most flexibility: the kinds of apps you create would be limited only by your own abilities as a programmer and designer.

2. Hire a team to build it for you

You can always hire someone else to build your app for you. How much this would cost depends on the app’s complexity, but typical apps cost several thousands of dollars. If you don’t have the technical expertise and your app requires custom development, this may be your only resort.

3. Use a self-service app creation tool like Andromo

Using Andromo is a much easier option. You don’t need any specialized knowledge; all you need is an idea for an app that can be built using the features that Andromo provides. Andromo lets you turn web links and bits of content into a functioning, fully native Android app, personalized with your own colours, background images, and icons.

Why use Andromo?

It’s easy, it’s fast, and it produces a high quality end result.

Andromo takes the technical aspects of app making out of the equation. You don’t have to know anything about programming. You can quickly turn content and links into attractive, responsive, well-behaved apps.

Every Andromo app is built with code that was created by a team of programming experts. Bug fixes happen continually without any effort on your part. You just have to click “Build” and your apps will come out polished and reliable and behave as fully native Android apps should.

This means you can focus on designing your app, and spend more time marketing and supporting it as well.

Being able to make apps so quickly enables you to build some kinds of apps that wouldn’t be feasible otherwise. You can take advantage of current events with a time to market that would not be possible if you had to program an app from scratch. Since Andromo lets you make new apps at no extra cost, you can even find profit from apps with a shorter shelf life. A slip of the tongue by someone famous could spell opportunity for a quick, successful app.

Being able to make as many apps as you want frees you to try different approaches and see what works the best. If your first idea doesn’t work, maybe your tenth idea will. Andromo allows you to act quickly on each new idea without any additional cost.

All without dealing with the complexity of Android programming. You get the features of a native Android app, without having to implement any of them yourself.

So, to recap:

  1. It’s easy to use.
  2. It’s fast.
  3. It’s inexpensive.
  4. It produces a professional quality Android app.

About Andromo

Andromo is a website that lets anyone turn an idea into an Android app. It auto-magically transforms simple online settings into custom Java source code, compiling and linking it using Google’s official Android SDK. You get a stand-alone, native Android app that follows the Android design guidelines and is indistinguishable from an app that was coded by hand.

If you can use the web, you can use Andromo to turn your ideas into successful Android apps.
